Our Materials

Established in 2007, we are a responsible fashion brand who continues to lead
the way in sustainable and ethical fashion - putting people and our planet first.

We partner with artisans and suppliers, primarily in India & Nepal,
to create contemporary and stylish clothing collections for women using natural,
organic and sustainable materials.

ORGANIC COTTON

Beautiful, soft cotton is one of our favourite fabrics. In many
instances, we choose organic cotton as this uses much less water in its manufacture and no pesticides which helps to preserve the natural balance of nature.
Cotton is a kinder fabric to our skin as it is breathable, allowing us to keep cool in summer and warm in winter, helping to prevent the build-up of sweat and therefore bacteria against our skin. It will also breakdown harmlessly after its useful lifespan comes to an end and does not release harmful fibres into our waste water when washed, unlike synthetics.  We now know that synthetic fibres have made their way into our food chain as they cannot be broken down. LINEN

A fabric of ancient origin and timeless appeal, linen is made
from the flax plant and can be used to create elegant, tactile garments.  Flax can be grown in poor soil using relatively little water and fertilizer minimizing its environmental impact. It is strong and durable allowing us the opportunity to wear and enjoy our linen garments year after year. As a completely natural fibre it is also fully biodegradable. We know our BIBICO customers love the linen we use and we will continue to bring this luxurious fabric to our collections for you to enjoy. See our womens pure linen clothing collection here

LYOCELL

We love lyocell, a relatively new and exciting fabric we use for sustainable clothing manufacture. Made from sustainably grown Eucalyptus trees, this fabric is completely biodegradable when it reaches the end of its lifespan and uses no harmful chemicals and very little water in its manufacture. The resulting fabric is lightweight,
breathable and incredibly soft, which is why we have chosen it time and again for our dresses and shirts. See our womens lyocell clothing collection here

WOOL

Wool is the one of the most traditional fibres with which to
manufacture clothing and has stood the test of time for good reason. It is sustainable in its production, renewable and biodegradable once it reaches the end of its lifespan.  As a completely natural fibre, wool can be used to create exquisite garments which allow our skin to breath, can be repaired when they show signs of wear and if cared for well, will last for many years. We also source our merino wool from suppliers who do not permit ‘mulesing’, a cruel and painful practice utilised to prevent disease in sheep.
