The Ecologist: Top 10 Eco friendly summer dresses

29 June 2011

eco friendly clothing

One of our best selling dresses this summer the Lolita Dress was recently seceted by the Ecologist as one of the Top 10 Eco Friendly dresses for this summer.

Here's what they had to say:

Bibico ‘Lolita’ dress, £57
Why we love it: Nothing says summer like lemon yellow or delicate embroidery; and Bibico’s Lolita dress has both. Made from 100 per cent cotton, the piece also features a smocked panel at the back – a post-prandial boon. Bibico is the brainchild of Spanish designer, Nieves Ruiz, whose vision was of a label that combined style and sustainability in equal amounts. The result is a Fairtrade brand whose chic pieces are stitched, sewn and knitted by women working in certified co-operatives.
How to wear: Great over a bikini and equally cute with a relaxed denim jacket, the Lolita works perfectly for summer weekends.

We LOVE the new hand-made knits from Nepal

14 September 2009

Launching as part of the AW/09 collection is a new line in knitwear. Designer Nieves specialises in knitwear design and after the success of her first bibico collection she was keen to include some knitwear pieces. The classic striped jumpers, pretty cardi’s and chunky knits are now available to purchase on-line.
With this new-line we also had to find a new producer group that was talented with a pair of knitting needles. We were lucky to find a group of artisans and highly skilled knitters in the hills of Nepal. This Fair Trade certified group are the people who are making Nieves’ designs into jumpers and cardi’s that we can wrap up in this winter!
